 erebral Palsy (CP) is by definition an infantile-onset condition\; however
 \, the majority of individuals with CP in the US are adults.  The period o
 f transition from pediatric to adult care is accompanied by new opportunit
 ies as well as challenges\, many of which are not addressed by currently a
 vailable transition tools.  Adults with CP have unique functional\, psycho
 social\, and medical needs\; however\, data guiding best practices is limi
 ted.   In this talk\, we will discuss barriers to wellness for adults with
  CP and explore strategies to help adults with CP to not merely survive bu
 t thrive.\n \n\nLectureship Objectives:\n\nReview available data on morbid
 ity\, mortality\, and life-span for people with Cerebral Palsy (CP).Recogn
 ize current limitations of clinically available tools for transition in pa
 tients with CP.Examine domains of transitional needs identified by the fam
 ilies of emerging adults with CP.Establish unique medical and societal cha
 llenges faced by adults with CP.Strategize potential interventions to impr
 ove long-term wellness in adults with CP. \n\nSummary: \nCerebral Palsy (C

 nLectureship Speaker:\n\nDr. Heather Riordan is the medical director of th
 e Phelps Center for Cerebral Palsy and Neurodevelopmental Medicine at Kenn
 edy Krieger Institute and is an assistant professor of pediatric neurology
  at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Her clinical interests include the diagno
 sis of neurogenetic disorders and treatment of spasticity and complex move
 ment disorders\, including dystonia and chorea.  Dr. Riordan has expertise
  in botulinum toxin injection\, baclofen pump management and deep brain st
 imulator management.  Her hope is to help her patients more fully particip
 ate in the things that make them happy.\n\n \n\nCEU Information: This acti
