 PhD\, LCSW-C\, is the director of training at the Maryland Center for Deve
 lopmental Disabilities at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She is an associate p
 rofessor at the University of Maryland\, Baltimore (UMB) Graduate School a
 nd the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Department of M
 ental Health. She is also a faculty affiliate of the Johns Hopkins Wendy K
 lag Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities and an adjunct profes
 sor at the UMB School of Social Work. Dr. Ofonedu is a psychologist\, a li
 censed clinical social worker and a fellow of the American Psychological A
 ssociation (APA). Her work spans across two decades.\n \n\nCEU: 3.0 Contin
 uing Education Credit Hours\n\nSession Description\n\nTo improve the healt
 h and wellbeing of all youth\, there is a need for coalition-building and 
 strategies for promoting positive mental health outcomes for youth of all 
 groups. For youth\, families and communities\, the pathways to effective m
 ental health services and supports are complex and challenging to navigate
 . This workshop will provide a unique learning opportunity for participant
 s on prevention and effective strategies for promoting positive mental hea
 lth outcomes for youth\, families and communities. This seminar is intende
 d to meet most professional licensing board requirements of enhancing comp
 etency in working effectively with individuals\, families\, and communitie
 s from various backgrounds and life experiences. It also meets other Socia
 l Work Practice content as required by the Maryland Board of Social Work E
 xaminers.  \n\nLearning Objectives: Participants will be able to:\n\n1.   
  Describe the essential role that service providers and community members 
 play in supporting positive mental health outcomes for children and adoles
 cents.\n2.    Describe two to three facilitators and two to three barriers
  to effective engagement with youth and their families in treatment and se
 rvice programs.\n3.    Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of best pra
 ctices that produce more equitable experiences and outcomes for youth.\n4.
     Apply the “Family as Host” model to enhance engagement efforts ear
 ly and throughout the care and service delivery process to promote better 
 health and well-being for youth.\n \nInstructional level: Intermediate\n\n
 \nWho should attend? Professionals and anyone interested in the topic. 3.0
  Continuing Education Credits (Category 1) will be granted to licensed soc
 ial workers and psychologists upon completion of this training and a compl
 eted evaluation. A Certificate of Attendance will be made available for al
 l other disciplines.\n\n\nKennedy Krieger Institute\, Maryland Center for 
 Developmental Disabilities is authorized by the Board of Social Work Exami
 ners in Maryland to sponsor social work continuing education programs\, an
 d it maintains full responsibility for this program. Kennedy Krieger Insti
 tute is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor cont
 inuing education for psychologists. Kennedy Krieger Institute maintains re
 sponsibility for this program and its content. No conflicts have been iden
 tified (this includes commercial support and research grants/funding). The

 professionals and community members not seeking CE credit\, and $35 for st
