 hD\, LCSW-C\, is the director of training at the Maryland Center for Develo
 pmental Disabilities at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She is an associate prof
 essor at the University of Maryland\, Baltimore (UMB) Graduate School and t
 he Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Department of Mental H
 ealth. She is also a faculty affiliate of the Johns Hopkins Wendy Klag Cent
 er for Autism and Developmental Disabilities and an adjunct professor at th
 e UMB School of Social Work. Dr. Ofonedu is a psychologist\, a licensed cli
 nical social worker and a fellow of the American Psychological Association 
 (APA). Her work spans across two decades.\n\nToni Scott\, MEd\, MA\,  is th
 e director of the Early Childhood Development and Education Center at Kenne
 dy Krieger Institute. She has over 15 years of experience in the early chil
 dhood and special education field in Maryland\, Virginia and Washington\, D
 .C. Her expertise extends to policy and workforce development to enhance ed
 ucational outcomes for children with diverse needs.\n \n\nCEU: 3.0 Continui
 ng Education Credit Hours\n\nSession Description\n\nService providers\, cli
 nic-based organizations and parents play a key role in the early identifica
 tion of young children with developmental delays and the facilitation of ea
 rly referrals for further evaluation and intervention. When children are no
 t screened early and routinely\, opportunities for early identification\, r
 eferral and intervention are delayed.  This interactive session is designed
  to meet the learning objectives stated above.\n \n\nObjectives: Participan
 ts will be able to:\n\nAssess awareness and knowledge about early screening
  while serving as advocates for prevention and intervention in service agen
 cies and local communities.Identify ways to increase confidence and intent 
 to identify and refer children for intervention earlier rather than later. 
 Discuss effective strategies to disseminate available screening resources a
 nd messages to parents and caregivers of young children\nInstructional leve
 l: Intermediate.\n\n\nWho should attend? Professionals and anyone intereste
 d in the topic. 3.0 Continuing Education Credits (Category 1) will be grant
 ed to licensed social workers and psychologists upon completion of this tra
 ining and a completed evaluation. A Certificate of Attendance will be made 
 available for all other disciplines.\n\n\nThe Maryland Center for Developme
 ntal Disabilities at Kennedy Krieger Institute is authorized by the Board o
 f Social Work Examiners in Maryland to sponsor social work continuing educa
 tion programs\, and it maintains full responsibility for this program. Kenn
 edy Krieger Institute is approved by the American Psychological Association
  to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Kennedy Krieger Institu
 te maintains responsibility for this program and its content. No conflicts 
 have been identified (this includes commercial support and research grants/
