*THIS EVENT IS INTERNAL, FOR ALL KENNEDY KRIEGER INSTITUTE EMPLOYEES

Health care professionals working in tertiary level pediatric settings are frequently exposed to complex and ethically challenging situations. Outcomes of this repeated exposure increases professionals’ moral distress, contributing to burnout, and departure from the healthcare field. Moral distress can also negatively impact patient care. Knowledge of moral resilience strategies can decrease the effect of moral distress on healthcare providers. This interactive training will support healthcare providers in adhering to ethical practice guidelines through the increased understanding of moral distress, moral injury, and moral resilience.

Objectives • Increase understanding of symptoms and manifestations of moral distress and moral injury faced by healthcare professionals • Gain the ability to understand the impact of moral distress in barriers faced by healthcare providers • Describe facilitators to the development of moral resilience • Understand the relationship between maintaining a culture of ethical practice and sustaining moral resilience in the healthcare setting.

Participants are eligible for 3 Category I Ethics CEUs.
