FREE STAR Training: Toilet Training for Children with Autism: Strategies for Success

Sharing Treatment and Autism Resources (STAR) Trainings  

The Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) at Kennedy Krieger Institute hosts free STAR trainings for parents and professionals to increase their knowledge of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and deliver valuable resources.

About the Training:

This training is designed to provide user-friendly strategies to facilitate toilet training with children with ASD or other developmental concerns. Parents and caregivers will be able to interject questions throughout the presentation and will leave with practical tools to use with their children.

Parents and caregivers will learn to:

  • Identify when your child is ready for toilet training
  • Prepare for toilet training and teach foundational skills
  • Implement strategies to decrease accidents and increase appropriate voids on the toilet
  • Promote independence with toileting.

About the Presenter:

Elizabeth “Betsy” Cross, PhD, is a licensed psychologist at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, where she conducts autism diagnostic evaluations, leads social skills groups and provides individual therapy services.
