This session will define and discuss the intersection between race and disability. The presentation will review the healthcare history of individuals with disabilities and identify root causes of health disparities among individuals from marginalized populations.

 

Learning objectives:
1. Describe the intersection of historical segregation, racial bias and racial health disparities.
2. Identify three ways that ableism shows up in medicine and public health.
3. Identify and explain at least three ways that disabled people experience health disparities throughout their lives.
